Dry Alternatives for Carry-on Luggage

If you are staying at a swanky hotel that provides lots of toiletries, the ban on liquids in carry-on luggage may not be a big deal. But if you are a backpacker, or a one-bag type, or are boarding a 12-hour flight in coach, the liquids ban is a big pain in the rear.

Turns out though that there are solid alternatives to most of the things we carry in liquid form. Of course solid deoderant is a given, but who knew that there were shampoo bars and solid shaving cream? Have you thought about teeth wipes and sunscreen wipes? They're out there too.

Here's a good article on alternative solid toiletries to give you some ideas. The last suggestion may be the best if you've got an extra $13: just pick up a loaded kit being sold at airports when you arrive.
